Graduates of law programs can begin building their careers as paralegals, lawyers, mediators and more and can focus on a wide range of law fields, including criminal, family, corporate and elder laws. Prospective paralegals have a good chance of employment, as law firms are increasingly hiring paralegals and often do not require applicants to have advanced degrees or experience. Lawyers are typically required to complete a Juris doctor degree program at an American Bar Association-approved school and are experiencing less job growth but higher wages than paralegals. To become a judge, applicants must have a law degree and years of experience and be elected or nominated. For more information, visit the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ pages on Legal Occupations.
